Moscow - Saba:
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on a statement by US Presidential Envoy Keith Kellogg, in which he stated that Ukraine had offered to establish a demilitarized zone.
The Kremlin representative stressed, in an interview with the Russian news agency TASS, that the Russian side has not yet heard any statement from Kyiv regarding its desire to establish a demilitarized zone along the combat line.
The American politician had previously announced that the Kyiv regime was ready for a 30-day ceasefire and was willing to freeze hostilities along the contact line, provided that a 30-kilometer-wide demilitarized zone was established.
In response to a question about whether Russia was prepared to consider a counterproposal from the Ukrainian side, Peskov added, "No statement has been made from Kyiv on this issue."
Earlier, the Kremlin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin had ordered a humanitarian ceasefire, halting all military operations during the 80th anniversary of the Victory Day, from May 8 to 11.
The Kremlin emphasized that "Ukraine should follow Russia's example and declare a ceasefire on the 80th anniversary of the Victory Day... If the ceasefire is violated by the Ukrainian side, Russian forces will take an appropriate and decisive response."
However, on May 3, Volodymyr Zelensky publicly refused to support this initiative, claiming that the proposal was not serious.
