Gaza - Saba:
The Government Media Office in Gaza said, "While the world celebrates International Workers' Day, the Gaza Strip is experiencing tragic circumstances as a result of the ongoing Israeli blockade and the devastating effects of successive military aggressions on all sectors of life."
The Government Media Office noted in a press statement on Thursday that "this day, which celebrates workers' rights and calls for improving their conditions, comes to the Palestinian people in general, and to workers in particular in the Gaza Strip, at a time when they are suffering the most severe forms of injustice and oppression, in light of the genocidal crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against civilians, most notably workers."
He added, "Workers in the Gaza Strip are living in extremely difficult conditions due to the ongoing Israeli blockade for 18 years and the subsequent destruction of infrastructure and vital facilities." These conditions have led to unprecedentedly high unemployment rates among workers, with the unemployment rate in the Gaza Strip exceeding 50%, making the Gaza Strip one of the areas in the world suffering from the highest unemployment rates.
