Hague - (Saba):
The Namibian delegation affirmed before the International Court of Justice the need for Israel to cooperate with the United Nations and respect the immunities granted to it under international law, emphasizing Israel's duty to uphold these immunities within Palestine.

In her address to the court on Thursday, the Namibian representative indicated that Israel's measures against UNRWA are unjustified. She added that the absence of UNRWA would deprive the Palestinian people of the means to survive.

She accused Israel of systematically violating the Palestinians' right to self-determination, stressing that it has no right to prevent international bodies from carrying out their duties within the Palestinian territories.

She pointed out that Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are in dire need of water, food, electricity, and medical supplies, and that Israel must facilitate the entry of these aids. The Namibian representative concluded her statement by calling on the court to reject the allegations promoted by Israel regarding UNRWA.

Last Monday, the International Court of Justice opened a week of hearings to review Israel's humanitarian obligations towards the Palestinians, more than fifty days after it imposed a comprehensive blockade on the entry of aid to the war-torn Gaza Strip.

According to the court's agenda, the hearings (oral arguments) will be held from April 28 to May 2, 2025. Forty-four countries and four international organizations have expressed their intention to participate in the hearings before the court.

At dawn on March 18, 2025, the Israeli enemy resumed its aggression and tightened blockade of the Gaza Strip, following a two-month cessation under a ceasefire agreement that came into effect on January 19. However, the occupation violated the terms of the agreement throughout the truce period.

With American and European support, the Zionist enemy has been committing genocide in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, resulting in more than 170,000 Palestinian deaths and injuries, most of them children and women, in addition to more than 14,000 missing persons.
