The National Program to Address the Phenomenon of Begging celebrated on Wednesday the graduation of 80 individuals, who completed training in life skills and entrepreneurship, including sewing, auto electrical work, and solar energy installation. The program aims to empower vulnerable populations and combat the rise in begging.
Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Samir Baja'alah highlighted the program's focus on addressing the increased begging phenomenon resulting from the country's ongoing conflict and blockade. He emphasized the Ministry's commitment to supporting vulnerable groups through such initiatives, with crucial support from the General Authority of Zakat.
Dr. Zaid al-Hadour, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research, emphasized the program's role in promoting social integration and empowering individuals to become productive members of society. He noted the importance of equipping trainees with practical skills to improve their livelihoods.
Yasser Sharaf al-Din, Executive Director of the Anti-Begging Program, explained that the graduates completed three months of training and will now move on to advanced vocational training, followed by integration into the workforce or the launch of their own businesses.
Sharaf al-Din praised the program's success as a testament to resilience in the face of adversity.
