Taipei - Saba:
Taiwan's defense ministry announced Friday that the advanced NASAMS air defense missile systems that Taipei has ordered from Washington will be deployed at key strategic locations in the north of the island to protect the region.
The Taipei Times quoted the defense ministry as saying Friday that the NASAMS systems will be deployed in Taipei's Songshan district and New Taipei City's Tamsui district, and that Taiwan could receive the systems by the end of this year.
The shipment is part of the 17th batch of American weapons that the United States has provided to Taiwan under President Joe Biden.
