The Brazilian national team defeated its Chilean counterpart by two goals to one, during their match on Friday, in the ninth round of South American qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Chile opened the scoring through Eduardo Vargas in the second minute, and Igor Jesus equalized for Brazil in the 45th minute, then substitute Luiz Henrique scored the winning goal for Brazil in the 89th minute
With this victory, the Brazilian team raised its score to 13 points in fourth place, while the Chilean team continued with five points in ninth place.
In another match of the same round, the Argentine national team drew with its Venezuelan counterpart with a goal.
Argentina's goal was scored by Nicolas Otamendi in the 13th minute, before Salomon Rondon equalized for Venezuela in the 65th minute.
The matches of the ninth round conclude tomorrow, with a meeting between Peru and Uruguay, and both are looking to win in order to adjust their positions in the general qualifying table, as the Peruvian team occupies the tenth place with three points, while the Uruguayan team occupies the third place with 15 points.
