RAMALLAH September 03. 2024 (Saba) -The Palestinian Prisoners' Authority and the Prisoners' Club confirmed that the large spread of Skypos scabies among prisoners, and in several prisons - specifically - in "the Negev, Megiddo, Nafha, and Raymond" is due to the retaliatory measures imposed by the prison administration on prisoners and detainees after the seventh of October, and among the injured are child prisoners in Megiddo prison.
The report of the Commission and the club, which reviewed the measures that caused the spread of scabies among prisoners, indicated that prisoners were deprived of the necessary cleaning materials, including those used to maintain personal hygiene.
Today, the majority of prisoners rely on one change, and some of them have long been wearing the same clothes and are forced to wash and wear them wet, causing the spread of the disease.
The report indicated that the state of overcrowding inside the cells and sections, as a result of the escalation of daily arrest campaigns and lack of ventilation, and the isolation of prisoners in cells without sunlight also caused the spread of scabies among prisoners.
The spread of infection among prisoners was accelerated by the prison administration's deliberate transfer of sick prisoners from section to section instead of quarantine, or deliberately delaying their quarantine.
