SANA'A September 03. 2024 (Saba) — Minister of Electricity, Energy, and Water Dr. Ali Saif chaired a vital meeting on Tuesday in the capital Sana'a to discuss enhanced cooperation between the Ministry and the Yemeni Economic Corporation.

The meeting, attended by Deputy Minister Adel Bader, Brig. Gen. Ali Hamid of the Yemeni Economic Corporation, and Dr. Mishaal al-Rifi of the General Electricity Corporation, focused on advancing the electricity and energy sector.

Discussions centered on maintaining existing infrastructure and developing new power stations to meet the nation’s energy needs.

Key outcomes included reviewing the progress on the electric energy development agreement between the Ministry and the Economic Corporation, and approving the initiation of practical steps to implement the agreement.

A technical and engineering team will be established to prioritize maintenance and construction projects.

Dr. Saif emphasized transforming challenges into opportunities through effective partnerships, both locally and internationally, to enhance the electricity sector.

He highlighted the need for a rapid response to raise the efficiency of power generation and to secure necessary spare parts, particularly in light of ongoing challenges and attacks on infrastructure.

Deputy Minister Bader underscored the importance of supporting the General Electricity Corporation to recover from extensive damage, including recent attacks by foreign adversaries.

He stressed the necessity of exploring alternative solutions and strengthening partnerships to support sector development.

The Director of the General Electricity Corporation commended the efforts of technical staff in restoring operations and called for ongoing collaboration with the Yemeni Economic Corporation to advance investment and development in the electricity sector.
