GENEVA August 16. 2024 (Saba) - UN Human Rights spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani described the attack by Zionist settlers on Palestinians in the West Bank village of Jit, describing it as appalling and revealing continuing impunity.
Ravina Shamdasani said in a statement: "There are reports that weapons are being distributed to settlers to carry out these attacks, and therefore there is a responsibility on the part of the Israeli government in this regard."
Shamdasani stressed that the attack in the village of Jit was horrific, and therefore the mass killing committed there is not isolated but a direct result of Israel's settlement policy in the West Bank, noting that the past years have also seen settlers attack Palestinian villages with continued impunity.
Yesterday, settlers stormed the village of Jit, under the protection of enemy forces, and assaulted Palestinians with bullets, killing a young man and injuring another, and set fire to several houses and vehicles and damaging them.
