GAZA August 09. 2024 (Saba) - The Israeli enemy army announced on Friday morning the start of the 98th Division "offensive" operation in the Khan Younis area in the southern Gaza Strip.
In its statement, the army claimed that the military operation came due to intelligence about the presence of militants and infrastructure in the area, and as part of efforts to strike armed organizations in the Gaza Strip while trying to rebuild.
"During the attack, the forces are fighting above and below the ground simultaneously, in addition to clearing the area of saboteurs and finding and destroying weapons and terrorist structures," the statement said.
The IDF spokesman pointed out that as the forces began to enter the area, war planes launched intensive raids targeting more than 30 Hamas targets in Khan Younis, including weapons depots and meeting compounds for militants.
According to the statement, he claimed that during the airstrikes, a number of Hamas operatives were eliminated at the tactical level, who were engaged in sniper sniping and mortar fire at the Israeli occupation forces and Israel.
In another statement, the Israeli army announced that an officer from the Nahal Brigade was seriously wounded during fighting yesterday in the southern Gaza Strip.
