GENEVA July 30. 2024 (Saba) - The spokesman for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Jeremy Lawrence, confirmed that international humanitarian law "categorically prohibits" the Zionist occupation army from bombing the water tank in the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.
Lawrence explained, in press statements on Monday, that under international humanitarian law, "it is strictly forbidden to attack facilities essential to the survival of the civilian population, including water resources," noting that the Zionist entity has a "documented" failure to ensure accountability for violations of international law.
He pointed out that "it is necessary to find solutions at the international level to address the long-standing accountability gap in the occupying entity (Israel)."
The video showed the Zionist enemy soldiers blowing up the main water tank in the Tel al-Sultan neighborhood west of Rafah city, which will exacerbate the crisis of the availability of drinking water in the city.
The Zionist enemy forces are deliberately destroying water networks, wells and desalination plants in the Gaza Strip, which causes a severe crisis in the availability of drinking water for Palestinian citizens, in addition to preventing the entry of fuel, which in turn limits the work of the remaining desalination plants in the Strip.
