Tehran – Saba:
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed on Tuesday that the targeting of the US Al-Udeid base in Qatar was merely a reaction to the direct and clear US involvement in the Zionist entity's aggression against Iranian territory, and in no way constitutes a confrontation with a friendly, sisterly, and neighboring country like Qatar.
In a phone call with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, he said: "Today, the Zionist entity and its supporters have realized that Iran is not Gaza, Lebanon, or Syria, so that they can destabilize it with multiple attacks and achieve their goals."
According to the Iranian Tasnim News Agency, Pezeshkian explained: "The Iranian government and people are fully aware of the friendly and brotherly intentions and stances of the State of Qatar toward them, and they deeply appreciate all forms of support, sympathy, and assistance from the Qatari government and people, especially in difficult times."
Pezeshkian added: "I reiterate that I contacted you to express my thanks for all your efforts to stop the war, and for all the support, sympathy, and assistance you have shown to your brothers in Iran. I hope that you and the friendly and brotherly Qatari people will accept that yesterday's missile attack was merely a reaction to American participation in the military aggression."
The Emir of Qatar said that his country "has made great efforts, both publicly and privately, to prevent the region from being drawn into the throes of wars waged by the Zionist entity, including aggression against Iranian territory. We did so out of love for the Iranians, as well as out of our duty toward a neighboring, friendly, and sisterly country."
He explained that the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar has not been and will not be used to carry out any action against the Islamic Republic of Iran, stressing: "We in Qatar will certainly prevent any action from this base against our friendly and sisterly country, Iran."
