SANA'A July 24. 2024 (Saba) - A meeting at the General Traffic Department has focused on advancing automation and digital transformation projects, including establishing an alternative data center.
Discussions covered the technical requirements for devices and equipment necessary to establish a command and control center at the General Traffic Department, which will coincide with the launch of an electronic monitoring system for traffic violations.
Traffic management specialists provided updates on the implementation of the electronic collection project for traffic transactions and services, evaluating its initial stages. This project aims to facilitate citizens' transactions and improve efficiency by reducing reliance on manual processes.
The meeting also reviewed the communications system in newly established road traffic police stations and proposed mechanisms to enhance cooperation in developing additional stations along key routes, including Sanaa-Taiz, Sanaa-Saada, and Al Bayda-Ma’rib lines.
Technical and technological projects under preparation by the Information Systems Department of the General Traffic Department were discussed, such as automatic vehicle identification, electronic monitoring of traffic violations, an electronic reservation system, and other upcoming initiatives. The technical needs of the traffic police, including speed monitoring radars and body cameras for live transmission of field operations, were also reviewed.
Police director Bakil al-Barashi and other officals toured the proposed site for the command and control center to assess the necessary equipment for the project.
Dr. Al-Barashi praised the collaboration with the General Department of Communications at the Ministry of Interior, highlighting the role of technical projects in enhancing traffic services. He noted that these steps reflect the state leadership's commitment to simplifying procedures and providing efficient traffic services to citizens.
