SANA'A July 15. 2024 (Saba) - In a session held on Monday, led by Parliament Speaker Yahya al-Rai', the Yemeni Parliament examined a report from the Education Committee regarding the Ministry of Education’s financial overview of the Teacher and Education Support Fund, covering the period from November 2020 to September 30, 2023.
The report detailed the educational needs aligned with the Fund’s objectives, outlining the establishment of the Fund, its resource collection mechanisms, and expenditure volumes. It included tables summarizing the Fund's uses, disbursements, activities, and objectives up to the end of September 2023.
Highlighting the Fund's challenges, the report called for covering its needs from the state’s general budget, ensuring monthly disbursement of workforce transportation allowances for schools, and liquidating the Fund’s book balances due to urgent necessity.
The report concluded with various observations, inquiries, and responses from the government. The committee also provided several recommendations based on their findings.
The Parliament has postponed further discussion of the report to a future session, pending the presence of the relevant government representatives.
