Minister of Industry returns home

SANA’A, Dec.12 (Saba)- Minister of Industry and Trade, Dr. Saad Eddin Bin Taleb returned to Sana’a Thursday after his participation at the head of Yemeni delegation in the 6th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO) ,held recently in Bali, Indonesia.

In a statement to Saba, Bin Taleb said that the conference came up with Bali declaration , which included the acceptance of Yemen in the membership of the WTO, and it will get the full membership during the next six months.

He confirmed that accession to the WTO is a victory and a big step undertaken by the Yemeni economy in order to achieve integration in the global economy.

Dr. Bin Taleb pointed that Yemen would benefit from its membership in the organization , as it will make no concessions to the fact that the customs has been reduced to 5% since 2005 and that the Yemeni market was open ten years ago and that Yemen would benefit from the large technology-related investments.

The Minister of Industry noted to the efforts of the government in seeking to join the WTO since its request for membership in 2000 until achieving its demand after 13 years of negotiations.

“We will become the Member State No. 160 in the World Trade Organization and we will abide by its laws, the most prominent of which is not to steal others' rights and intellectual property rights ", Bin Taleb said.
