MOSCOW June 11. 2024 (Saba) - Moscow is fully prepared for escalation in light of the escalation the West is witnessing, Russian presidential spokesman said on Tuesday.
"The situation is very tense on the European continent, and provocations have recently been monitored daily, so such exercises and movements to maintain combat readiness are very important for us," Dmitry Peskov added, according to TASS news agency.
The Russian presidential spokesman explained that "conducting training is normal as long as certain types of weapons are available, as the armed forces must maintain their combat readiness as required and conduct training."
The Russian Ministry of Defense had previously announced the start of the second phase of a joint nuclear exercise with Belarus, where Russian and Belarusian forces will train to prepare for the use of non-strategic nuclear weapons during the exercises.
