OCCUPIED QUDS May 29. 2024 (Saba) - The Zionist Knesset approved on Wednesday, in preliminary reading, a bill requiring Israel to declare UNRWA as a "terrorist organization."
Under the draft law, the "Counterterrorism Law" would apply to UNRWA, suspend all its contacts and relations with Israel, and close its offices there.
The Penal Code provisions that apply to "terrorist organizations" will also apply to the UN agency.
The bill was supported by 42 Knesset members and opposed by six.
Israel claimed that UNRWA staff participated in the "Aqsa Storm" attack, but provided no evidence.
Countries also cut their funding to UNRWA in the wake of the Israeli allegations, then retracted and returned to its funding.
