BEIJING April 12. 2024 (Saba) - Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Friday that her country supports Palestine's full membership in the United Nations.
"The ongoing conflict and the severe humanitarian crisis resulting from it are further evidence that the only way to end this vicious cycle of conflict is the full implementation of the two-state solution, the establishment of an independent State of Palestine, and the redress of the historical injustice that Palestinians have long suffered," Mao said at a press conference in response to a question about China's position on Palestine's membership in the United Nations.
Palestine had formally asked the UN Security Council to reconsider its application for full UN membership submitted in 2011.
Earlier this week, the Security Council met and referred Palestine's application to the Committee for the Admission of New Members for its deliberations.
