MOSCOW December 04. 2023 (Saba) - Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov stressed on Monday the importance of linking the climate agenda to countries' national interests and capabilities.
According to the Russia Today website, the statement came during the Russian minister’s participation in the round table event at the climate conference in Dubai, where a group of finance ministers discussed financial tools for the green transition.
Siluanov pointed out that the success of some countries on the climate issue cannot be achieved at the expense of other countries.
“For Russia, we have formed the necessary regulatory framework, adopted the climate doctrine, approved the criteria for sustainable development projects and launched the trading (exchange) of carbon units,” Siluanov said.
Yesterday, Sunday, 50 companies in the oil and gas sector, representing 40% of global production, decided to commit to eliminating carbon from their production processes by 2050.
