BOGOTA October 17.2023 (Saba) - Colombian Foreign Minister Álvaro Leyva announced that he had asked the ambassador of the Zionist enemy entity to his country to apologize and leave the country because of the ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip since October 7.
Local media reported that Colombian President Gustavo Petro had also decided to "suspend foreign relations with the entity of the Zionist enemy" and expel his ambassador, following Tel Aviv's decision to halt the export of security supplies to his country.
"If it is necessary to suspend our relations with the Zionist enemy, we do so, we do not support extermination and insults cannot be directed at the President of Colombia and we call on Latin America to genuine solidarity with Colombia."
The Colombian President had likened the Zionist enemy's continued attacks on the Gaza Strip to the persecution of Jews by Nazis during the Second World War.
For its part, Hamas commended Colombia's expulsion of the ambassador of the Zionist enemy from its territory, in the light of the ongoing Zionist incursions into the Gaza Strip for more than a week, and the continuation of Operation "Al-Aqsa Flood" launched by Palestinian resistance factions.
In a statement last night, the Movement called on other States to "take similar steps in rejection of the Zionist enemy-led genocide" and thanked all positions in support of the Palestinian people.
Those international positions in favour of the Palestinian people and their resistance against aggression underscored the fairness of their cause.
