Gaza - Saba:
The Palestinian Telecommunications Regulatory Commission announced on Thursday a complete outage of internet and landline services in the Gaza Strip after the last main fiber optic cable route was targeted.
In a statement, the Commission stated that digital isolation is escalating as a result of systematic targeting of infrastructure, despite repeated attempts to repair severed and alternative cables.
The statement noted that the southern and central Gaza Strip are joining the isolation suffered by the northern and southern Gaza Strip for the second consecutive day.
It emphasized that the continued outage threatens to completely isolate the Strip from the world and impacts relief, health, media, and educational services.
The statement explained that the occupation has been preventing technical crews from reaching fault sites or repairing cables and backup cables for months.
The Commission warned of serious humanitarian and social consequences and called for urgent local and international intervention to facilitate repairs.
