Tehran – Saba:
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi has announced that Iran has made necessary arrangements to respond to any resolution issued by the IAEA Board of Governors against its peaceful nuclear activities.
He emphasized that these technical measures will take effect immediately upon the resolution's adoption.
Gharibabadi told reporters Wednesday that Iran views a potential IAEA resolution as politicized and likely adopted without consensus.
He affirmed that Iran's nuclear program will continue with effective and advanced steps. Regarding the European Troika's threat to activate the "trigger mechanism," Gharibabadi stated that the "nuclear agreement" practically no longer exists, as other parties, especially the U.S. and European countries, have failed to honor their commitments for several years.
He argued that these countries legally lack the right to refer the issue to the Security Council and restore previous resolutions against Iran under the trigger mechanism.
Gharibabadi warned that Iran would not remain idle against such "politically motivated and hostile" measures, taking necessary responses within its national interests despite not seeking confrontation.
Concerning the sixth round of indirect negotiations with the United States, the Deputy Foreign Minister criticized the American side's "irrational approach and vacillating positions" in previous rounds.
He expressed hope that the U.S. would adopt policies based on logic and international law, stressing that Iran deems "unreasonable demands" unacceptable.
Gharibabadi concluded by affirming Iran's clear and defined rights, its firm stance against pressure and sanctions, and its willingness to negotiate, but reiterated that sanctions will not be used to pressure its legitimate rights.
