SANA'A September 17. 2023 (Saba) - Mahdi Al-Mashat, Chairman of the Supreme Political Council, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone on Sunday for 269 service and development projects in the capital, Sana’a, worth 56 billion and 556 million riyals, on the occasion of the Yemeni people’s celebrations of the September 21 Revolution and the Prophet’s birthday.

Where His Excellency the President, accompanied by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yahya Al-Ra'i, the Prime Minister, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtoor, his Deputy for Economic Affairs - Minister of Finance, Dr. Rashid Abu Lahoum, the Director of the Office of the Leader of the Revolution, Safar Al-Sufi, the Secretary of the Capital, Dr. Hammoud Obbad, and the Head of the Military Intelligence Authority, Major General Abdullah Al-Hakim, inaugurated 120 projects worth 18 billion and 187 million riyals.

The projects included a tunnel, a roundabout, Mathbah bridge in the capital secretariat, surface bridges, rehabilitation, maintenance, restoration and asphalting projects, rainwater drainage channel projects, 18 water and sewage network projects, drilling artesian wells, 13 rehabilitation, maintenance, restoration and asphalting projects for streets, and 11 projects for purchasing and supplying equipment and machinery. Ten projects in the agricultural field, 19 projects for community initiatives supported by the local authority, and nine projects for social affairs and labor.

The projects that were opened also included nine solar energy projects for artesian wells, eight projects for the construction and maintenance of buildings and public facilities, five stone paving projects, five safety and traffic improvement projects and three rainwater drainage channels, as well as projects for the restoration and rehabilitation of educational facilities.

The projects inaugurated by His Excellency the President included three construction and leveling projects, preservation of the general plan, rain emergencies, self-initiatives in the field of construction, implementation of side pavement tiles, filling with asphalt and concrete for excavations for district streets, with the participation of district works offices, two surface bridge projects, a major bridges and tunnels project, and a solar street lighting project.

President Al-Mashat laid the foundation stone and inaugurated work on 100 projects worth 21 billion, 508 million and 910 thousand riyals, which included projects for bridges, tunnels, stone paving, rehabilitation, maintenance, restoration and asphalting of streets, implementation and maintenance of rainwater drainage channels, water and sewage network projects, drilling artesian wells, as well as re-projects and maintenance of educational facilities.

The projects for which the foundation stone was laid included projects for purchasing and supplying equipment and machinery, community initiatives and in the agricultural field, construction and leveling projects, maintaining the general plan, street lighting projects, health centers with solar energy, and other projects.

His Excellency the President and his companions inspected the progress of work underway in 47 development projects worth 16 billion, 964 million and 873 thousand riyals in various service and development fields, while the number of community initiatives projects for the year 1444 AH reached 32 projects worth one billion and 900 million riyals.

His Excellency the President stressed that the opening and laying of the foundation stone and the launch of work on these strategic projects came as a result of the September 21 Revolution and a victory for the Development Front and the successes it achieved on various service tracks, and at the same time reflects the insistence of the Yemeni people to continue the process of construction and development and face aggression challenges.

He appreciated the efforts of the leadership of the Capital Municipality in implementing service projects that serve citizens and contribute to alleviating their suffering in light of the continued aggression and siege.

The opening and laying of the foundation stone were attended by the Secretary General of the Local Council, Amin Jamaan, the First Undersecretary of the Secretariat, Khaled Al-Madani, the Chairman of the Social Affairs Committee of the Local Council, Hamoud Al-Naqeeb, the Undersecretary of the Secretariat for the Works and Projects Sector, Engineer Abdul Karim Al-Houthi, and a number of officials in the Secretariat.
