Occupied al-Quds – Saba:
Al-Quds governorate warned on Wednesday against the Israeli enemy exploiting regional tensions to expand Israeli settlements and isolate the city from its Palestinian surroundings.
In a report carried by the official Palestinian News Agency, the al-Quds governorate expressed its deep concern over the escalating Israeli field measures aimed at strangling the city of al-Quds and completely isolating it from its Palestinian surroundings. These measures include the installation of new iron gates, the intensification of military checkpoints, and the acceleration of settlement expansion and annexation.
The Governorate explained that Israeli enemy authorities installed a new gate on Wednesday at the entrance to the town of Anata, northeast of the city. A few days earlier, they installed a gate at the entrance to Jaba' and another at the entrances to the town of Hizma. This is part of a rapid escalation that falls within the Zionist policy of fragmenting the city and completely controlling movement within it.
The governorate stated that these developments coincide with the Israeli enemy's exploitation of the recent aggression on the Gaza Strip and the aggression against Iran.
It stated that the Israeli enemy government seeks to implement annexation plans, expand the boundaries of al-Quds municipality, increase the number of settlers, and build new settlements in the area, all while the world is distracted by what is happening in the occupied city.
It noted that the city is witnessing unprecedented restrictions at the main military checkpoints, most notably Qalandia, Shuafat, Jaba', and the Container, leading to their near-complete closure to vehicles and disrupting the lives of Palestinian citizens. Waiting times exceed six hours daily, and many have been subjected to humiliation and abuse at the crossings.
Al-Quds Governorate highlighted the field impact of these measures, citing what happened at the Israeli Jaba' military checkpoint, where the deputy governor was forced to walk to his workplace in the town of al-Ram, amidst the complete closure and severe overcrowding. This scene epitomizes the suffering of thousands of Palestinians who are stuck for long hours every day at checkpoints.
It confirmed that enemy forces are setting up "flying" mobile checkpoints in al-Quds towns and neighborhoods such as Silwan, Jabal al-Mukaber, Issawiya, al-Eizariya, and Hizma, in conjunction with search and arrest campaigns and the imposition of heavy fines.
The governorate's report indicated that the city of al-Quds is now surrounded by 85 checkpoints, including earth mounds, fixed and mobile iron gates, in addition to the expansionist apartheid wall, effectively turning it into a closed prison where racial segregation is enforced by force.
It noted that these measures are part of an integrated plan to fully control the city, including Islamic and Christian holy sites, as part of an undeclared annexation project being implemented amid the international community's preoccupation with the Palestinian capital.
Al-Quds governorate called on local and international media outlets and social media activists to intensify coverage of these violations and to work to convey the voice of al-Quds and its events to the world, in the face of the policies of silencing and media blackout pursued by the occupation authorities, aimed at concealing crimes and restricting freedoms.
The Governorate's report concluded by emphasizing that international silence gives the enemy a green light to proceed with its settlement and Judaization projects, emphasizing that media and popular solidarity with al-Quds has become an urgent necessity to confront these existential threats.
