The Russian Defense Ministry announced that its forces captured two new towns in eastern Ukraine on Wednesday, eliminating 850 Ukrainian soldiers, while its air defenses shot down 236 drones.

The ministry stated in a statement that units from the Northern Group of Forces advanced deep into Ukrainian defenses and took control of the town of Novonikolaivka in Sumy Oblast, while units from the Western Group of Forces took control of the town of Dolgenkoye in Kharkiv Oblast.

It indicated that Russian forces targeted Ukrainian armed forces in several areas, noting that the Ukrainian forces lost a number of armored combat vehicles, personnel carriers, vehicles, artillery, ammunition depots, and electronic warfare stations as a result.
