Sana'a - Saba:
Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Rahwi met on Wednesday with Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Samir Bajjalah to review the ministry’s activities and its affiliated units, as well as the progress of programs targeting the most impoverished and vulnerable social groups.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ali Mughalli, Executive Director of the Fund for the Care and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, Dr. Ghada Abu Talib, Chairperson of the National Women’s Committee, and Akhlaq Al-Shami, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood. Discussions covered the fund’s recent activities, its efforts in assisting persons with disabilities—whose numbers have increased due to aggression and blockade—and the challenges it faces, along with solutions in line with the directives of the Supreme Political Council.
The talks also addressed proposed amendments to the law governing the Fund for the Care and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities. The amendments aim to strengthen the fund’s role in implementing the national strategy for disability care, empowerment, and social inclusion.
Additionally, the meeting touched on plans to integrate the National Women’s Committee and the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood into the ministry’s structure, as part of a broader organizational merger and modernization program.
Prime Minister Al-Rahwi commended the ministry and its affiliated units for their accomplishments, particularly their interventions for persons with disabilities and special needs. He highlighted the vital role of the Fund for the Care and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities and stressed the need to enhance its services.
He instructed the ministry to present the proposed amendments to the fund’s law to the Council of Ministers for discussion and approval. He also noted that the Higher Committee for Merger is responsible for finalizing the integration of the Women’s Committee and the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood into the ministry’s framework.
Minister Bajjalah expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for his support of the ministry’s programs, particularly those benefiting society and the most vulnerable groups. He affirmed the ministry’s commitment to implementing its annual plan, which includes vital social and humanitarian projects aimed at achieving tangible outcomes for target communities.
