SANA'A December 12.2022 (Saba) - President of the Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat instructed on Monday the General Authority of Awqaf (GAA) to continue the economic empowerment projects for the poor.
During his meeting with several State's officials, al-Mashat reviewed Awqaf properties (endowments) controlled by the government bodies.
He directed the state's officials to form a central committee and sub-committees to survey Awqaf properties used by the government bodies and return the unused ones to the GAA.
The President stressed the importance of developing Awqaf revenues and spending them on what was endowed for, pointing out that the funds and properties of Awqaf were endowed by parents and grandparents so as to their benefits reach the poor, the vulnerable segments of the society, the sick, the wayfarers and students and the construction of dams and water projects.
Al-Mashat considered preserving Awqaf's funds and properties a duty and a religious responsibility for everyone.
