SANAA, April 2 (Saba) - The Deputy Prime Minister for Development and Economic Affairs, Dr. Hussein Maqbouli, on Tuesday announced investment opportunities in the field of mineral wealth in Yemen.



The announcement came during his meeting held in the capital Sanaa with a number of businessmen and investors, in the presence of the head of the Authority of Geological Survey and Mineral Resources Engineer Hussein al-Nimeer.



During the meeing, Maqbouli referred to the advantages that will be granted to the national capital investing in this field.



He explained that this meeting came in accordance with the directives of the President Mahdi al-Mashat to discuss the problems facing investors in the field of minerals and ways to deal with them in the interest of the national economy.



He pointed out that Yemen is rich in minerals such as gold, silver, platinum, iron, zinc, lead, nickel, copper, cobalt, titanium, In addition to industrial minerals such as zeolite, limestone, gypsum, silica sand, as well as ornamental stones such as marble, basalt and other metals.

The Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that the government gives the mining sector great attention and is working to develop it in order to support and develop the national economy.

He pointed out that there are draft laws submitted by the Council of Ministers to the parliament to improve the investment environment.

He stressed that the investment in minerals should go beyond the exploitation and internal processing to the stage of exportation, especially in the presence of political will and transparent and flexible legislation in addition to the availability of labor.

The meeting reviewed the characteristics of the zeolite material, advantages and benefits of this mineral, which is a highly enriched soil material. It is a 100% environmentally friendly fertilizer product and a catalyst for improving plant growth. It reduces fertilizer costs when mixed with chemical fertilizers, and increases its efficiency and survival period to more than 30 per cent.

The report pointed out that this mineral works to improve soil conditions, which contributes to the improvement and increase the production of agricultural crops.

It represent a source of many nutrients, breaks salinity and reduce the toxicity of nitrogen.

In his turn, businessman Yahya al-Habari reviewed the investment activities in the zeolite, which is still limited during the past three years and the sites that were excavated and found in large quantities of economic, where samples sent to many countries such as Britain and India for testing and proved its quality in the world.

The meeting stressed the importance of coordination among all state agencies and awareness on the importance of this mineral and its exploitation, especially in agriculture as fertilizer for soil and feed for poultry.

He stressed the need to provide the necessary facilities for the private sector so that it can play its role in serving the national economy.

The meeting resulted in a number of measures and practical recommendations for future investment in minerals, the most important of which is the announcement of a capital of $ 2 million for the establishment of a Yemenite joint stock company to invest in the field of minerals, the preparation of an integrated study on all aspects related to minerals and the preparation and a comprehensive vision for investment in zeolite.

The recommendations included holding a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture and its various bodies to exploit the metal zeolite in agriculture and announce a national day for Zeolite.

The Deputy Prime Minister along with Chairman of the Geological Survey, the heads of departments and representatives of companies visited the Geological Museum of the Survey Authority.

They admired the museum's features, including ancient life, oil, mining, ancient mining, industrial minerals , promising investments, rocks and minerals.
