Seven U.S. soldiers were wounded in a shooting incident at Fort Stewart military base in the state of Georgia on Wednesday.
According to American media reports, the active shooter incident occurred inside Fort Stewart, prompting an immediate lockdown of the base.
In a statement posted on its official social media accounts, Fort Stewart confirmed that the facility was placed on lockdown at 11:04 a.m. and that law enforcement officers were on-site.
The incident reportedly took place in the area of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team. While injuries were confirmed, no further information has been released regarding the condition of the seven wounded personnel.
Fort Stewart is located approximately 362 kilometers (225 miles) southeast of Atlanta.
