The Capital Mayor, Dr. Hammoud Obad, inspected on Wednesday the progress of a stone paving , asphalt restoration project in Azal District, with a total cost of 117 million and 327 thousand riyals, funded by the local authority.
Dr. Obad reviewed the stone paving work on the eastern side of the Sheraton Tunnel, covering an area of 1,200 square meters, with 80 percent of the project completed so far. He urged intensified efforts to complete the project in accordance with technical specifications and the set timeline.
Engineers supervising the work briefed the Mayor on the project, which includes stone paving and maintenance and restoration of damaged asphalt segments covering an area of 3,000 square meters on targeted streets, under the supervision of the Public Works and Projects Sector in the Capital Secretariat.
He highlighted the importance of the project in rehabilitating and maintaining the streets of Masek, starting from Sheraton Tunnel to Al-Mashhad Roundabout, including paving the side of the tunnel. The project aims to facilitate traffic flow , preserve the tunnel and the main road.
Dr. Obad affirmed that the implementation of such projects comes as part of the Capital Secretariat’s preparations for celebrating the Prophet’s Birthday (Mawlid), and to present the capital in a manner befitting the significance of the occasion in the hearts of Yemenis.
