Sana'a - Saba:
A meeting chaired by Hamoud Al-Naqeeb, head of the Social Affairs Committee in the Capital Secretariat’s Local Council, discussed on Monday the progress of work at the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation and the implementation of community initiative projects.

The meeting, attended by Dr. Qanaf Al-Marrani, Deputy Secretary for District Affairs, Eng. Mohammed Mada’es, Director of the Corporation, Eng. Ahmed Al-Mashriqi, Director of Community Initiative Projects, Eng. Musa Al-Mansoori, Director of Technical Supervision, and representatives of beneficiary committees, reviewed the completion level of projects carried out by the Corporation with funding from the local authority and community contributions. The challenges faced and solutions to address them were also examined.

Al-Naqeeb emphasized the local authority’s commitment to supporting and encouraging community initiatives in implementing service projects across various sectors, particularly water and sanitation networks for neighborhoods and districts, to improve services for citizens and alleviate their hardships.

He urged doubling efforts to complete all projects, overcome difficulties, and enhance community participation in supporting the Capital Secretariat’s endeavors to meet citizens' needs for service projects.

For his part, Eng. Mada’es presented several water and sanitation projects implemented by the Corporation in the past period with community contributions, supported by the Capital Secretariat and supervised by the General Administration of Community Initiative Projects, as well as efforts to improve and expand service coverage across the Secretariat’s districts.

Meanwhile, Eng. Al-Mashriqi explained that the total cost of community initiative projects funded by the local authority in the Capital Secretariat amounted to 3.8 billion Yemeni riyals, with a completion rate of 77% over the past years and this year.

The attendees stressed the importance of intensifying efforts and improving performance to complete the stages of sewage network projects in targeted neighborhoods and districts, while beneficiary committees follow up on securing the remaining community contributions.
