Hodeida University held a celebratory event on Monday to mark the achievement of full national program accreditation — the prestigious "Golden Accreditation" — for its Medicine and Surgery Program at the Faculty of Medicine, granted by the Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council for Higher Education.
First Deputy Prime Minister Scholar Mohammed Miftah, congratulated the university on this major milestone, praising the efforts of the university’s leadership, faculty, and administrative staff in elevating academic standards and meeting national quality benchmarks.
He described the accreditation as a strategic step toward building higher education institutions aligned with national visions that address current challenges and serve the needs of Yemeni society. He also commended the faculty's dedication in attaining this distinguished level of excellence.
Miftah emphasized that achieving academic accreditation is a true reflection of the strong national will to continue building educational institutions despite prevailing challenges.
During the ceremony, attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration and Rural Development Mohammed al-Madani, the Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Scientific Research, Hasan al-Sa’adi, stated that this full national accreditation represents a qualitative leap in the development of medical education in Yemen.
He affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting all universities working to enhance the quality of their academic programs, commending the role of the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council in developing standards and supporting universities in implementing them.
Al-Sa’adi noted that this achievement will pave the way for improving the quality of healthcare and educational services provided by the college’s graduates.
In the event — attended by Hodeida governor Abdullah Atifi, First Deputy Governor Ahmed Al-Bishri, and Deputy Governors Mohammed Haleisi and Ali Kabari — University Rector Dr. Mohammed al-Ahdal explained that the Golden Accreditation was the result of more than two years of continuous effort, involving internal and external evaluations and comprehensive development of curricula, facilities, and medical laboratories.
He confirmed that the university is steadily progressing in enhancing the quality of its academic programs and is currently working on fulfilling accreditation requirements for several other programs across different faculties.
