Hodeidah - Saba:
An expanded meeting was held in Al Hodeidah province on Monday, chaired by the First Deputy Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed Muftah, and attended by local and community leadership figures.
The meeting discussed mechanisms for coordination among relevant authorities in the fields of development and emergency work to enhance effective response and optimal utilization of the upcoming rainy season.
During the meeting, the First Deputy Prime Minister praised the developmental momentum and integration of roles between official and community entities in Al Hodeidah, emphasizing that the province represents a distinguished developmental model at the national level.
He stated that this visit falls within the framework of field follow-ups on economic, developmental, and service projects, as well as reviewing the efforts of local authorities in achieving self-sufficiency and expanding local production.
Sheikh Muftah stressed that strengthening institutional work and integrating roles between executive and community bodies are fundamental to achieving comprehensive and sustainable development. He called for overcoming bureaucracy and adopting flexible plans that respond to local realities and current challenges.
He noted that Al Hodeidah possesses the necessary components and opportunities to become a pivotal economic hub, including its strategic geographic location, agricultural and marine resources, and growing cooperative movement. This, he said, necessitates directing government and community investments toward developing these sectors.
He highlighted the importance of involving local communities in developmental planning, institutionalizing volunteer work, and activating community oversight mechanisms to ensure transparency in project implementation, protect resources from waste, and strengthen public trust in official institutions.
The First Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized Yemen’s leading role in confronting forces of arrogance through qualitative operations in the Arabian and Red Seas, which have reinforced Yemen’s presence in the conflict equation with the enemy.
He called for early preparations for the rainy season and preventive measures in flood-prone areas, stressing that prevention is less costly and more effective than emergency responses. He also directed the activation of community initiatives in public cleanliness, clearing debris from flood channels, and encouraging government agencies to engage in field work, reflecting a spirit of responsibility and national commitment.
For his part, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration and Rural Development Mohammed Al-Madani stated that Al Hodeidah represents an advanced developmental model due to its integrated productive and community infrastructure, as well as active cooperative initiatives across various districts.
He noted that Al Hodeidah is currently witnessing significant growth in agriculture, food processing, and light industries, positioning it as a potential economic hub in the country and making its experience a replicable model for other provinces.
Al-Madani praised the province’s successful experience in managing past rainy seasons, describing it as an effective model for local response. He called for leveraging this experience to enhance the capacities of other provinces, particularly in agriculture.
He also stressed the importance of supporting local products and prioritizing national industries in government procurement, given their direct impact on development, job creation, and self-sufficiency.
During the meeting, which was attended by Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Education Hassan Al-Saadi, Al Hodeidah Governor Abdullah Atifi explained that the province is confidently moving forward with implementing a comprehensive developmental strategy based on directives from the revolutionary and political leadership, with absolute priority given to the agricultural sector and local production.
He emphasized the commitment to teamwork and integrating efforts between executive and community leaders to activate cooperative roles, revitalize agricultural associations, achieve food security and economic stability.
Governor Atifi called for raising community awareness about the importance of contributing to development efforts through productive projects, expanding cooperative activities, and sustainably utilizing available resources.
