New Delhi – Saba:
Today, Monday, Indian Muslim leaders and heads of major Islamic organizations in India called on their government to take serious action to stop the genocide and starvation being inflicted upon the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
They urged the government to restore its historic stance in support of the Palestinian cause, a position it had upheld even before India's independence.
According to the Quds Press agency, the demands were made during a press conference held today at the Press Club of India in New Delhi. Participants included Jamaat-e-Islami Hind President Saadullah Hussaini, Ahl-e-Hadith leader Sheikh Ali Asghar Imam Mahdi Salafi, prominent Shia scholar Sheikh Mohsin Taqvi, former Minorities Commission Chairman Dr. Zafarul Islam Khan, and Abdul Hafeez, President of the Students Islamic Organization of India, alongside representatives from the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind.
Saadullah Hussaini stated that the Indian government must uphold its moral and humanitarian responsibilities and refrain from providing any form of assistance to "Israel." Instead, it should raise its voice strongly for the oppressed Palestinian people. He emphasized that this demand is directed at both the government and all segments of Indian society and its institutions.
For his part, Dr. Zafarul Islam Khan noted that international law, which took over a century and a half to establish, is now being dismantled by "Israel" and its Western backers, particularly the United States and Britain.
He added that this is happening despite around 140 countries calling for an end to the aggression and despite the International Criminal Court issuing arrest warrants for so-called Israeli Prime Minister, war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu, and two of his ministers.
Khan pointed out that the overwhelming majority of the world's people now stand with Palestine, stressing that countries from Africa, Asia, and South America have taken concrete steps against "Israel," including filing cases at the International Court of Justice. Meanwhile, the West continues to support the aggressor despite acknowledging the illegitimacy of what is happening in Gaza.
He affirmed that what is occurring in Gaza is the first genocide in modern history being carried out around the clock and broadcast live to the world, all under global silence and political complicity.
Khan stated that the real goal of this aggression is the forced displacement of Gaza's population—a long-standing plan that "Israel" has persistently pursued.
He sharply criticized Islamic and Arab nations for their inaction in the face of the ongoing massacres in Gaza, describing their silence as "a disgrace and humiliation for which these nations will be held accountable in the pages of history."
He emphasized that Palestine is a member of both the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League, yet it is left alone to face an unprecedented massacre.
