Tehran – SABA
Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence announced Monday that it had thwarted assassination plots targeting 23 senior Iranian officials during the recent Israeli assault on the country. The ministry also revealed that it had disrupted 13 additional plots that had been in preparation over the past months, bringing the total number of foiled assassination attempts to 35. These attempts were reportedly aimed at prominent political and military figures.
According to the ministry’s statement, several espionage networks working for Mossad were dismantled, and 20 spies—both operational and logistical—were arrested across various provinces, including Tehran, Alborz, Qazvin, Arak, Isfahan, Fars, Kerman, Khuzestan, Zanjan, Mazandaran, West Azerbaijan, and Kurdistan.
In three critical cases, Iranian military intelligence agencies coordinated directly with the ministry to counter threats. One significant operation involved uncovering a secret base near Iran’s southeastern border housing 300 foreign militants preparing to infiltrate the country. All activities from that group were preemptively halted.
The ministry also revealed efforts by the Israeli regime to recruit mercenaries under the label of the “United Balochistan Front,” asserting that these movements remain under tight surveillance.
Additionally, the ministry highlighted ongoing countermeasures against Baha’i sects, dissident groups, sabotage networks, cyberattacks, and attempts at societal infiltration. It described the 12-day confrontation during the Israeli aggression as an extensive operation involving military, security, intelligence, cognitive, and perception warfare, as well as terrorism and sabotage.
Iran directly accused the United States of leading this conspiracy in coordination with Israel, several European states, armed opposition factions, Takfiri groups, and armed smugglers. The goal, the ministry said, was to destabilize the country, topple the Islamic regime, and fragment Iran’s national unity and geographic integrity.
