Oslo – Saba:
Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide stated on Monday that the situation in Gaza has worsened beyond what was previously described as "hell," emphasizing that the current aid is far from meeting the needs of Gaza's population.
Eide criticized Israel's claims about allowing aid yesterday, calling it "a drop in the ocean." He added, "What is being delivered does not come close to what is required. Airdrops are extremely costly and complicated—a single large cargo plane cannot provide what a massive truck convoy can."
"We hardly have words to describe how horrific the situation in Gaza is now. On average, a classroom of children is killed every day," he said.
Eide stressed, "Our demand is for this war to end. We do not want just temporary or localized pauses—we call for a ceasefire."
He also dismissed what some Norwegian researchers refer to as "humanitarian intervention," stating, "This is unrealistic as long as the U.S. holds veto power in the Security Council."
Meanwhile, the Gaza Government Media Office reported that most of the recent aid deliveries—only 73 trucks over two days—were looted under the watch of the Israeli occupation forces and their drones.
With American and European support, the Israeli military has continued its genocidal war on Gaza since October 7, killing 59,921 Palestinian civilians, mostly women and children, and injuring 145,233 others—figures that are not final, as thousands remain trapped under rubble or in streets inaccessible to rescue teams.
