Occupied Quds - Saba:
The former head of Israel’s Shipping and Ports Authority, Yigal Maor, acknowledged the significant strategic and economic impact of the closure of the Port of Eilat due to Yemeni attacks in the Red Sea, describing them as a new style and tactic of warfare.
According to the Hebrew newspaper Davar, Maor stated: “The precision and sophistication of Yemeni maritime attacks against Israel-linked vessels reflect a new method and military tactic.”
He noted that the return of "Israeli shipping" in the Red Sea is unlikely to happen anytime soon, emphasizing: “I don’t see any solution to this problem.”
Maor added, “We must remember that the Port of Eilat has been almost completely closed for two years.”
He pointed out that the Red Sea port had previously been a vital hub for importing cars, consumer goods, medicine, and live livestock, as well as exporting phosphate shipments to countries such as India and China. “All of this has almost entirely stopped,” he concluded.
