The US dollar approached its lowest level since 2021 against the euro and its weakest since 2015 against the Swiss franc on Monday, as traders awaited developments on trade ahead of an upcoming US tariff deadline.
The dollar dipped slightly against the Swiss franc to 0.7949 francs, while the euro fell 0.2% to $1.1767. The British pound also declined 0.3% to $1.3615.
Meanwhile, the dollar rose 0.3% against the Japanese yen to 145.04 yen, reversing earlier losses. The dollar index, which measures the currency against a basket of major peers, edged up 0.2% to 97.145 points.
The Australian dollar dropped 0.8% to $0.6502, and the New Zealand dollar fell 0.7% to $0.6010. In contrast, the US dollar gained about 0.3% against both the Canadian dollar and the Mexican peso, trading at 1.3640 Canadian dollars and 18.6548 pesos, respectively.
