Ibb governorate held on Sunday central and district-level events to mark Ashura and the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), with wide participation from local authorities, scholars, academics, and residents.
Governor Abdulwahid Salah highlighted the connection between Karbala tragedy and the suffering in Gaza, affirming Yemenis’ commitment to Imam Hussein’s path in confronting tyranny and supporting Palestine.
Speakers emphasized the lessons of Karbala, the injustice Imam Hussein faced, and the need to resist oppression in all its forms. They called Ashura a day of sacrifice, truth, and resistance to global arrogance.
The events included speeches, religious poetry, and chants, stressing the importance of faith identity and standing with the oppressed.
