California – Saba:
Wildfires in a rural area of central California spread rapidly on Friday due to dry and hot weather.
The "Madre Fire" has become California's largest wildfire so far this year, scorching grasslands in southeastern San Luis Obispo County. It quickly expanded to cover more than 144 square kilometers, with only 5% containment, according to U.S. media reports.
Evacuation orders and warnings have been issued for small communities near Highway 166 as flames move through mountainous terrain toward the Carrizo Plain National Monument, about 72 kilometers east of Santa Maria.
The area, located roughly 200 kilometers northwest of Los Angeles, features vast grasslands that attract visitors in spring for their wildflower blooms.
