Dhamar – SABA:
The Anti-Narcotics Department at the Dhamar Governorate Police launched today an awareness campaign on the dangers of drug use, coinciding with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, observed every year on June 26.
At the launch event, Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Mahdi, Director of Security in Dhamar, emphasized the importance of raising awareness about the harmful effects of drugs on individuals and society. He warned that drugs have become one of the major threats to the community, especially as enemies seek to facilitate drug infiltration into the country in an effort to weaken, corrupt, and divide the population.
Al-Mahdi stressed the need for enhanced coordination between security units and relevant authorities to confront this dangerous phenomenon, which poses a threat to the entire nation.
He also highlighted the recent success of the Anti-Narcotics Department in seizing a quantity of cocaine—one of the most dangerous drugs—along with other types of narcotics.
For his part, Lieutenant Colonel Al-Ezzi Al-Mutawakkil, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department, described drugs as one of the major contemporary challenges that devastate nations and destroy generations, particularly targeting youth, who are the foundation for building the future.
He called on all relevant institutions to contribute to spreading awareness of drug risks and to work on protecting the community, especially children and young people, by fostering them with faith-based education and keeping them away from the dangers that threaten their wellbeing.
Al-Mutawakkil explained that the campaign will reach all districts of the governorate, aiming to educate the public about the grave dangers drugs pose to individuals and society.
