US President Donald Trump launched a scathing attack on CNN and the New York Times after their reports asserted that the US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites did not fully achieve their objectives.
In a post on the Truth Social platform on Wednesday, the US president asserted that "Iran's nuclear sites were completely destroyed," describing the strikes as "one of the most successful military strikes in history" (as he put it).
Trump said, "Fake News CNN, in conjunction with the failing New York Times, are trying to downplay one of the most successful military strikes in history."
These statements come on the heels of a preliminary US intelligence report revealing that the strikes that targeted three Iranian nuclear facilities last week did not destroy key components of Iran's nuclear program, but rather limited their effect to delaying nuclear progress for only a few months.
