A meeting chaired by the Capital's Mayor, Dr. Hamoud Obad, today discussed the situation of the sewage treatment plant in Bani Al-Harith District.
The meeting, attended by members of the municipal administrative body Hammoud Al-Naqeeb and Sharaf Al-Hadi, deputy mayors Yahya Jameel and Yahya Jumaan, Sana'a Security Director Major General Maamar Harrash, Director of the Health and Environment Office Dr. Muthanna Al-Marouni, as well as tribal leaders and dignitaries of Bani Al-Harith, reviewed the steps taken and necessary measures to maintain public health and environmental safety, preventing sewage water from reaching nearby agricultural lands.
The meeting approved the formation of a joint committee comprising local dignitaries and relevant authorities to study and propose necessary solutions.
It emphasized the urgent need for binding measures to ensure sewage water is not used for any purposes, safeguarding community health.
Additionally, the meeting agreed to begin identifying sites for rainwater harvesting pits (kharoof) in Bani Al-Harith to recharge groundwater and irrigate crops.
Discussions also covered extending sewage networks to uninhabited areas and the importance of collective efforts to achieve these goals.
The meeting stressed intensifying awareness campaigns in the community, particularly in Bani Al-Harith, about the health risks of wastewater and preventive measures against diseases and epidemics.
