Dhamar - Saba:

Dhamar governor Mohammed al-Bukhaiti on Sunday led a meeting to address pressing issues, primarily the surge in acute watery diarrhea cases, including cholera, and persistent traffic congestion.

During the meeting, attended by Dhamar undersecretaries Mahmoud al-Jubain and Mohammed Abdulrazzaq, alongside directors of key executive offices, al-Bukhaiti underscored the critical need for unified action across all sectors to curb the spread of the diarrheal disease. He stressed the importance of public awareness campaigns on preventive measures and ensuring adequate treatment for those affected.

Al-Bukhaiti specifically highlighted the crucial role of the health sector in managing current cases.

He urged intensified efforts to prevent the use of sewage water for irrigating vegetables and mandated stringent monitoring of chlorination and sterilization processes for drinking water, water tankers, and community water filling points.

Additionally, he called for increased community awareness regarding proper handling of sewage overflow.

Further directives from the governor included immediate field visits to food and beverage establishments to ensure compliance with health and safety standards, a measure aimed at preventing further disease transmission.

The meeting also delved into traffic challenges.

Governor al-Bukhaiti emphasized the importance of supporting the Traffic Police Department in enforcing traffic laws and taking decisive action against violators.

He called upon media outlets and mosque preachers to actively participate in public awareness campaigns to support these efforts.
