Doha - Saba:
Hamas on Sunday mourned the martyrdom of the Secretary-General of the Mujahideen Movement, Mujahid leader Sheikh Asaad Abu Sharia, and his brother, Mujahid leader Ahmed Abu Sharia, to the Palestinian people, the Arab and Islamic nations, and the free people of the world.
In a statement, the movement said that the two martyrs were martyred, along with a large number of members of their Mujahid family, in a cowardly Zionist assassination that targeted the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City, as part of a series of brutal massacres against civilians.
It added: “Today we bid farewell to the great leader Abu Sharia, one of the most prominent symbols of jihad and resistance, who fought heroic battles against the occupation for more than 25 years and survived several assassination attempts, yet continued on his path steadfastly and resolutely.”
The statement added: "The mujahid sheikh offered five of his brothers as martyrs before the Battle of Tufan al-Aqsa. In this war, he offered more than 150 martyrs from his family, including his wife, children, brothers, and relatives, embodying the highest meanings of sacrifice and devotion."
The statement said: "The martyr established an Islamic resistance tributary within Palestine, leaving his jihadi fingerprints on the battlefields. He called for the unity of the nation and the unification of its ranks to confront the usurping Zionist enemy."
The statement emphasized that "the ongoing crimes of the occupation, including assassinations, bombing, destruction, and starvation, will not weaken our will or halt our progress. Rather, they will increase our resolve and adherence to the option of resistance until our land and holy sites are liberated."
