Athens – Saba:
A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck northern Greece Saturday, near Mount Athos, home to ancient Orthodox monasteries, according to the Geophysical Institute of Athens.
Agence France-Presse reported the earthquake's epicenter was at sea, approximately 12.5 km deep, northwest of Karyes, Mount Athos's administrative capital.
A local official in Karyes confirmed no damage has been reported so far.
Mount Athos, located in Macedonia region, comprises 20 inhabited monasteries dating back centuries and has enjoyed autonomy since Byzantine era.
