Activists in solidarity with Palestine stormed the studio of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (OBB) in Tyrol on Friday, demanding more impartial coverage of the genocide committed by the Israeli enemy in the Gaza Strip over the past 20 months.
Members of the "Palestine Initiative in Tyrol" stormed the regional studio of the OBB and briefly occupied it, according to Anadolu Agency.
The protesters raised a large Palestinian flag on the roof of the building, chanting "Free Palestine."
In a statement read inside the building, the protesters demanded that the federal government and the public broadcaster take action to stop the genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
They also demanded more impartial coverage of the humanitarian crisis resulting from the ongoing Israeli genocide for 20 months and to inform the public accurately.
Police forces took heavy security measures in the area during the protest, which ended peacefully, and police arrested nine activists.
For his part, the regional director of the Tyrolean Broadcasting Corporation, Georg Leich, claimed to have listened to the activists' demands and asserted that the organization is currently providing balanced news coverage of the Middle East and Gaza.
With American and European support, the Israeli enemy army has been committing genocidal crimes in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, resulting in the deaths of 54,677 Palestinian civilians, the majority of whom were children and women, and the injury of 125,530 others, as of yesterday, Thursday. This is a preliminary toll, with thousands of victims still buried under the rubble and on the streets, unable to be reached by ambulance and rescue crews.
