The Russian National Guard announced on Friday that it had thwarted a terrorist attack on a military facility in the Ryazan region using a drone and neutralized the terrorist who was planning to carry out the attack.
The National Guard said in a statement posted on its official Telegram channel: "Russian National Guard personnel tasked with protecting a military facility belonging to one of the security agencies, using technical surveillance means, discovered a suspect preparing a terrorist attack using a drone.
The suspect offered armed resistance during his arrest and was neutralized."
The agency explained that a non-combat pistol modified to fire live ammunition was found in the criminal's possession.
Explosive experts from the National Guard's special task force also found two drones ready for launch at the site of the terrorist sabotage attack preparations, equipped with RKG-3 hand grenades as warheads.
The sources added that the design of the two drones allowed them to be controlled remotely.
