Pezeshkian: Iran always welcomes talks, but arrogance not included in dialogue principles

Tehran - Saba:

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed that "Iran welcomes negotiations, but arrogance is not part of the principles of dialogue."

Iranian news agency IRNA quoted Pezeshkian as saying on Tuesday, while receiving the credentials of the new Vietnamese and New Zealand ambassadors to Tehran, that "Tehran welcomes negotiations, but the basis of dialogue is that no one seeks to impose their demands by force on the other party."

Pezeshkian emphasized in part of his remarks during the meeting that "it is absolutely unacceptable for an entity in the region, with the support of powerful countries, to commit all sorts of crimes, and then attempt (through the policy of projection) to portray others as disrupting the region's security and peace, imposing their own agendas under this pretext."

He continued: "Iran has repeatedly declared that it absolutely does not seek to possess nuclear weapons, and has been and remains ready for any kind of cooperation to prove the validity of this claim."

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, for his part, confirmed on Tuesday that Tehran insists on its ability to enrich uranium on its own territory.

During the signing ceremony for his book "The Power of Negotiation" in Lebanon, Araghchi said: "The nuclear agreement proposal that Iran received from the United States is fraught with many ambiguities and questions. Tehran will provide an appropriate response in the coming days, in line with its interests."

He continued: "The continuation of enrichment within Iranian territory is a red line for us, and this is a fact that has become clear to all countries."
