Beirut – SABA:
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said on Tuesday that his country looks forward to strengthening its bilateral relations with Iran.
This came during statements made while receiving Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, according to the official Lebanese news agency.
Aoun affirmed that the reconstruction of what was destroyed by the Israeli aggression on Lebanon is at the top of the state’s priorities, “in cooperation with brotherly and friendly countries in accordance with applicable laws.”
Lebanon is suffering the consequences of a devastating war launched by the Israeli entity between September and November last year, in addition to an ongoing economic crisis since 2019.
For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister affirmed his country’s support for Lebanon’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and “the efforts it is making to end the Israeli aggression,” according to the same agency.
Earlier on Tuesday, Araghchi arrived in Beirut on an official visit.
